The Valhalla Squamish Trail Fund gives back to the Echo Lake Trail
This was a mega project for the Fund. From the spring of 2019 to the fall of 2020, $1,000 and hundreds of volunteer hours were donated to establish a new descent trail on the popular Echo Lake hike. The descent trail reduces wear-and-tear not just on the Monmouth Creek Trail, but on your very tired knees. A massive thanks goes out to Trail Fund founder and VPO Squamish owner, Murray Sovereign for spearheading this project and spending countless hours establishing this trail. We don’t just have the descent trail to thank him for. He’s also been the primary caretaker of the Echo Lake Hike in its entirety. Murray has been maintaining the trail for years, long before even establishing the Fund. Next time you see him, give the man a high five.
Thanks to everyone who put in some time with Murray on this trail. And a special thanks to every one of you who purchases VPO logo’d gear at the Squamish store. All of the gross profit from those sales goes directly into the Trail Fund and into our local outdoor infrastructure. Your dollars helped fund this big trail maintenance project – thank you!
