We all know how good the warmth of sunshine is especially after a long Canadian winter. Unfortunately, I'm sure many of us also know the feeling of too much sun! Shade can be especially hard to find on the water where the sun radiates down uninhibited, and sneakily reflecting off the water roasting you from angles you didn't think were possible.

Thankfully, the NRS Silkweight Varial Hoody has you covered! The light weight, antimicrobial, recycled polyester/spandex blend is UPF 50 to protect you from the sun and is designed to efficiently wick moisture away from the body to help keep it cool.

This hoody has a number of features to provide maximum coverage.

  • The thumb holes allow the sleeves to remain in place to protect the top of your hands and lower arms.
  • The hoody protects the back of the neck and head.
  • The neck gator with breathing holes protects the face.
  • The longer back protects your lower back from the infamous shirt creep, exposing the one strip of skin that you thought wouldn't get burnt!
  • A well placed button at the base of the hood helps to keep the hood in place and protect the upper chest and front of the neck from the sun.

Not only does the Silkweight Varial Hoody protect you from the sun but it also keeps you cool!

On a recent river trip where temperatures were in excess of 40C I quickly discovered this was the perfect shirt! It kept me from getting burnt and kept me cool. Getting the shirt wet was like wearing my own air conditioner as it extended the cooling time. I even went for a mid day hike to the rim of the canyon as I knew the shirt would be comfortable and keep me cool in the grueling heat!

It is evident a lot of thought has gone into the design and function of this shirt making it an excellent companion for your next adventure under the sun!
